Reaching 1000 beneficiaries for our solar homes project in Albay felt like a monumental task at first. The province is diverse, encompassing mountainous regions, coastal fishing communities, and even remote islands. Finding and verifying 1000 suitable households required a significant effort – a real treasure hunt across Albay!
Our team meticulously searched the province, covering a vast and varied landscape. They navigated challenging terrain, from the slopes of Mayon Volcano to the small islands scattered along the coastline. I wish I could have joined them! Their stories paint a picture of long days, often under challenging weather conditions, but their dedication was unwavering. They truly went the extra mile.
The Information Campaign
Once we'd identified our potential beneficiaries, the next step was a thorough information education campaign. This was crucial to ensure everyone understood the project, its benefits, and their responsibilities. Unfortunately, due to other pressing commitments within our office, I wasn't able to participate in this phase. However, I heard firsthand accounts from the team – it was exhausting, but vital work. They had to condense a large amount of information and deliver it effectively within a tight timeframe.
Feedback and Challenges
It's disappointing that some beneficiaries had to withdraw from the project for various reasons. However, it's heartening to see the enthusiasm and commitment of those who persevered. We're optimistic that the solar homes will significantly improve their lives. The ability to have light in the evening, listen to the news, and charge phones are simple yet transformative changes.
